Torpy is deaf but that won’t stop him playing Scrap. He can fetch & release, come, sit, down, all via sign language for the canine hearing impaired. He is definitely a “goofball” playing tug-o-war with just about anything you give him, wagging his little nubbin’ of a tail the whole time.Torpy also loves to let his owner palpate him as she practices her anatomy for vet school.

How Torpy lost his Leg?

Torpy’s had really a tough life and nobody really knows exactly how he lost that leg of his. His lasts owners believed that Torpy had been set on fire and managed to escape with his life but unfortunately not with his leg. At least that was the story they told the Humane Society of Western Montana, when they surrendered him at seven years of age, because they didn’t have time for him more. But Torpy doesn’t have any burn scars and he really does love to chase vehicles so his new owner Elena thinks that Torpy may have tussled with a car and the car won.

Anyway no matter how Torpy became an amputee, he has had a very tough life, abandoned twice and spending many months of his life at animal shelters. But Torpy doesn’t sulk or mope, he doesn’t spend his day looking for the leg that he lost, he hops from person to person looking to make a new friend where-ever he goes.

Why Torpy should be Scrap.

Torpedo has had a very tough life but despite the ill-treatment and his disabilities his attitude has always remained unquestionably optimistic. He has big brown eyes, a “pointer” tail that wags about 100 miles/hour, and a big wide “smiling” mouth. He’s smart, vibrant, silly, and about as happy and playful a dog as can be (and may I mention again… he’s 8 years old and deaf too!). He also has shown an amazing ability to quickly learn sign commands and “tricks.”

Torpedo now lives with his new owner in West Indies while she attends Veterinary school at Ross University. He is finally living the life for which he has been waiting so many years… hanging with his “person,” being the “one and only,” and getting all of the love and attention he could have ever imagined, not to mention he is now living in a beach paradise! But even though life is finally looking “up” for Torpy, he still wants that one final silver lining to all of his previous clouds… the chance to be on the silver screen! He deserves that chance… he’s been through a lot to get to where he is right now. Go Torpy! Go!
